Design Engineer, Houston TX
Bellows Systems, Inc. is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented mid-level Mechanical Designer to join our engineering team. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating and maintaining detailed engineering drawings and 3D models for precision metal bellows, expansion joints, and related assemblies used in demanding industrial and aerospace applications.
This role requires strong CAD skills, a solid understanding of engineering drawing standards, and the ability to collaborate effectively with engineering and manufacturing teams to develop practical, manufacturable designs.
Responsibilities
- Create detailed 3D models, assemblies, and production drawings using Autodesk Inventor.
- Apply Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles to engineering drawings.
- Develop and revise drawings in accordance with company and customer specifications.
- Support engineering projects from concept through production.
- Collaborate with manufacturing personnel to ensure designs are optimized for fabrication and assembly.
- Maintain accurate engineering documentation and revision control.
- Assist with troubleshooting design and production issues as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Demonstrated application knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
- Minimum two (2) years of experience using Autodesk Inventor.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to interpret engineering specifications, drawings, and technical documents.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate degree in Engineering Technology, Mechanical Design, Drafting, or a related field, or currently pursuing an advanced engineering degree.
- Aerospace industry knowledge and experience.
- Experience with Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DFMA) principles.
- Familiarity with metal fabrication, welding, or precision manufacturing processes.
